Here is the suggested lineup for week 14. The scheme is a 3-4-3.
Goalkeeper: Alisson. He is the leader in his position so far with 42 points. Genoa showed signs of life against Crotone, but they have yet to win at home and Roma have been a clean sheet machine so far.
Defender: Medhi Benatia. Giorgio Chiellini suffered a minor injury and therefore he will not play against Crotone. The Moroccan had a great game against Barcelona and so he should start this Sunday in a good match-up, at least on paper, against Crotone, even though Juventus’ defence has been disappointing this season.
Defender: Romulo. Even though Hellas Verona are in a bad predicament, there is some bonus potential with Romulo as he plays in a more advanced position and Sassuolo have astonishingly scored only once at home so far.
Defender: Danilo D’Ambrosio. He was the top performer last week. While Cagliari are no punching bag and have won three out of four, Inter have the second best scoring defence and he could do damage on offence as well.
Midfielder: Dries Mertens. Having him as a midfielder is a luxury, so he is basically a must-start every week. Udinese have conceded 13 goals in seven home games. Two games is about the longest drought he has had so far this season, or, really, this year.
Midfielder: Josip Ilicic. Only some rotation could ruin what should be a very favourable match-up for Ilicic, against Benevento. His two goals came at Atleti Azzurri d’Italia against Hellas Verona and Crotone, so against opponents of the same caliber, if not a little better.
Midfielder: Suso. He is consistently Milan’s best player and despite a nagging injury he should play against a Torino team that has been pretty average on the road. He has been the Rossoneri’s saving grace.
Midfielder: Valter Birsa. Chievo Verona have lost Lucas Castro for a good chunk of the season due to a MCL strain, so some other midfielder should step up offensively. All indications point to Samuel Bastien and especially Birsa, as they host Spal.
Striker: Mauro Icardi. He is in formidable form and Cagliari have had troubles defensively so far. It looks like that the sore patellar tendon is not bothering him too much, even though it is a situation that needs monitoring.
Striker: Mario Mandzukic. He rested against Barcelona, so he will be up and running in an easy game against Crotone at Allianz Stadium and could even have a chance to play more centrally, depending on what Allegri decides to do with Gonzalo Higuain.
Striker: Lorenzo Insigne. He appears to be in even better condition than his teammate Dries Mertens, who is usually Napoli’s main guy offensively. Udinese are in flux after the coaching change.
